Kupa – Wonderful Valley of Butterflies
The source of the Kupa is a protected natural monument and a favorite destination for excursionists.
Turquoise Lake is worth a 30-minute descent by serpentines from Razlog, and there is another access from the direction of Kupar located along the river.
The upper course of the Kupa rightly lives under another name: The Wonderful Valley of Butterflies.
In the Park you can also go Catch & relase sport fishing. Trout are hunted and released mainly as an attractive summer content for tourists who choose to spend the day in the mountains instead at the beach.

Lynx and friends
Risnjak, of course, was named after a elusive mountain cat and in turn gave it home, just like the bear and the wolf, which makes NP Risnjak one of the few places that are home to all three European large carnivores.
During each visit to the Risnjak National Park, there is a possibility to “catch” one of the forest predators from the specially prepared positions for wildlife observation with your photo lens or binoculars, but you will hardly meet them up close.
These animals keep themselfs away from the paths that people regularly use.
Mountain paradise – first row to the sea
The area of NP Risnjak is a strong climatic and vegetation barrier between the Croatian coast and the mainland parts of Croatia.
The highest peak of the Park: Veliki Risnjak is only 15 km air distance from the Adriatic Sea and various climatic influences are manifested not only by specific weather conditions but also with 1148 recorded species and subspecies of flora.
A short climb to the top of Snježnik or Risnjak will take you all the way from the Mediterranean immortelle to the mountain eelgrass.

Chamois – mountain ballerinas
Chamois (lat. Rupicapra Rupicapra) was recorded by the Frankopans in the 15th century as a special value of their estates and today in the area of NP Risnjak there are two smaller herds of chamois, present throughout the year.
As one of the novelties, NP Risnjak offers a guided Chamois Observation Program, which is organized for individuals or up to 3 people in a group under expert guidance and with provided binoculars.
The price is 800.00 kn for 1 person, 500.00 kn per person for 2 or 3 in a group, information and reservations at: marketing@np-risnjak.hr.
Active vacation for kids and adults
Mountain biking is a desirable helper in touring the fragrant forests of Gorski Kotar; on the map of the Risnjak National Park, bicycle paths are marked; from the shortest 4.2 km up to 40 km long routes. In the park you can rent MTB bikes and a safety helmet.
An active holiday does not have to be demanding.
For those who want only forest shade and walks in the Risnjak National Park, the Leska educational trail is easily accessible from the direction of Crni Lug and is only 4.2 km long, but with 23 educational boards and it is the right starting point for entering the world of Gorski Kotar forests for both children and adults.

Awaken your mountaineering passion
Holidays on Risnjak are not just hiking, but the views from the top of Snježnik (1506 m) and Veliki Risnjak (1528 m) never disappoint.
There is almost no passionate mountaineer in Croatia who has not visited these two relatively easily accessible peaks. Most of them return with pleasure and nostalgia to the peaks with a view of the sea and towards the Alps.
If this is your first time heading to the top of Risnjak, don’t forget to dress appropriately, bring drinking water and most importantly: always stick to the marked paths.
Both sweet and salty – for the beginning and the end of the trip
Pension RISNJAK located next to the Park Administration in the picturesque small mountain village of Crni Lug offers accommodation in five double rooms and the restaurant serves indigenous Gorski Kotar dishes.
You can taste blueberry strudel or game specialties on the outdoor terrace overlooking the pond surrounded by a greenery.
Mountain heights, ponds, chamois and strudels invite you to spend the day away from the summer crowds – breathing with full lungs in the forests of Gorski Kotar.
