Big Risnjak

The massif of Risnjak, with the whiteness of its rocks, dominantly rose above the greenery of the mountain forests. Beautiful views that stretch from 1528 m above sea level to the Kvarner Bay, Istria and the Julian Alps in neighboring Slovenia, will remain in the memory of every visitor.

Fauna

The premises of the Risnjak National Park are home to all three major European predators: the wolf, the bear and the lynx, after which the Risnjak massif is named.

Other faunal species such as birds, reptiles, insects, etc. are also numerous and diverse.

Big Risnjak

Snježnik

Nacionalni park Risnjak

Two mountain bare massifs rise from the forest area of Gorski kotar – Risnjak and Snježnik.

Only three kilometers apart, they look like mountain twins face to face.

In the lowest parts of the Park, the most beautiful Croatian river – the Kupa – embarks on its long river route.

Risnjak is a forest kingdom and it was the dense forest communities that provided it with a “ticket” to enter the society of national parks.
