A deer is a timid animal that hides from human view. That all changes when the peak of activity occurs – the roar.  In late August and early September, the urge to breed awakens in deer. During the mating season, the males approach the females and come to the meadows to fight each other for the right to mate. The males go out into the clearings in the early evening and start roaring.

The call for love echoes from all sides, and the males overpower each other. When roaring, males outvote each other and the intensity of roaring shows strength and fitness. When the call of love is not enough, there are often real fights when two deer cross their horns.
